ROBERT C. CARVALHO, P.G.

President and CEO, Professional Geologist

Robert Carvalho holds a Bachelor of Sciences in Geology from Hofstra University and is a Certified Professional Geologist (PG). He has over 25 years of experience managing and directing a wide range of environmental projects.

Mr. Carvalho is responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of all projects and operations of EAI. He manages a staff of skilled tradesmen and professionals and regularly meets with all project managers to ensure each project milestone is met and clients are satisfied with the quality, technical capabilities, and responsiveness of the EAI staff.

Mr. Carvalho designs decontamination systems for sub-surface hydrocarbon spills and air stripping systems for volatile organics, directs well installation for groundwater monitoring and performs closure plans and groundwater modeling. He conducts health and safety inspections on sites and facilities at all levels of complexity, including single family homes, large industrial sites and high-rises.

Mr. Carvalho’s responsibilities include the development of site remediation plans, environmental site assessment, compliance review, due diligence, sub-surface investigations and testing, environmental instrumentation and sampling programs, evaluation of laboratory analytical data, asbestos management and lead-based paint projects, construction inspection and preparation of environmental reports and specifications according to applicable federal, state and local regulations.

Robert Carvalho personally supervised the cleanup of 800,000 square feet in lower Manhattan following the World Trade Center collapse and the cleaning and decontamination and removal of the entire Holland Tunnel ventilation system. He has also supervised the installation of over 2,000,000 square feet of vapor barriers and sub-slab depressurization system (SSDS) installations.

Mr. Carvalho is responsible for EAI’s legal, technical and financial obligations. His practice also includes business development for local, regional and international markets.

Mr. Carvalho’s long list of certifications and affiliations includes membership in the American Industrial Hygiene Association and the New Jersey Association of Industrial Hygienists. He is an active participant in the New York State Department of Health Environmental Laboratory Approval Program (ELAP) and the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Proficiency Analytical Testing (PAT) Program for Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM).

Mr. Carvalho is a frequent panelist, moderator and commentator on environmental, real estate and safety issues, and his articles have appeared in numerous publications.

In 2003 Mr. Carvalho received the prestigious 40 Under 40 Award from NJBIZ magazine, recognizing him as one of New Jersey’s notable young business leaders. In June of 2005, Mr. Carvalho received the Gateway County Award from the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce recognizing him for his work in the redevelopment of Hudson County.
